LOURDES CENTRAL CATHOLIC SCHOOLS

Involved Parents Make a Difference

Lourdes Board of Education
Representatives from the eight supporting parishes serve on the board of education.  The school board meets the second Monday of each month in the high school library.  Parents are encouraged to attend the meetings.  The board of education acts as an advisory board to the Superintendent and other administrators.  If you have a concern that you would like discussed by the School Board, you can have your parish representative present it or you may contact the Superintendent and ask for it to be put on the agenda.  If you are interested in serving as a parish representative, please contact the pastor of your parish.

Home and School Association
The Home and School Association is set up to provide a link between the parents and the teachers.  This group meets on the third Monday of the month.  Regular scheduled meetings are not held during the summer.  The Home and School Association has an annual soup supper in November of each year.  Proceeds from this event support a variety of elementary programs, such as: technology, playground equipment, classroom learning materials, library books, and teacher assistance funds.  Other fundraising projects are also held during the year.  All parents are considered members of the Home and School Association and are encouraged to attend all meetings and functions.

Lourdes Activities Association
The Lourdes Activities Association supports all of the extracurricular activities for students in grades 6-12 and all levels of the music program.  All families with students who participate in any way in activities outside of normal academics are considered "members" and are encouraged to become active in supporting this association.  For additional information contact the school.

Nebraska Federation of Catholic School Parents
This organization is for all parents of Catholic school students and provides families with a voice in governmental matters that affect Catholic schools.  Dues are $3.00 per family and are collected at the beginning of each school year.  All parents are strongly encouraged to join this group.

Volunteer Program
Parents are encouraged to volunteer their time, talent, and treasures to Lourdes.  Volunteers in the elementary perform a wide variety of duties such as helping in the lunchroom, shelving books in the library, correcting papers, listening to student prayers, and helping with art activities.  Please contact the Elementary Principal if you would like to volunteer.
