Public Art Project
Lourdes art classes and several elementary classes will be participating in a community wide art project called An Enchanted Arboretum. Each class will receive a tree sculpture to be painted and then placed around town. Participating teachers spent three days training during the summer to be a part of this project.
Students will submit designs later this year and the winning designs from each class will be painted on the sculptures. Other communities have had similar projects (bicycles in Lincoln, J Doe in Omaha), but this is the first time that students have been asked to become involved. This is a great opportunity for young artists to get out and contribute to our community.
This project is being funded by the Wirth Foundation, Nelson Family Foundation, Kropp Foundation, Nebraska City Rotary Club, and Hum City of Nebraska City.
