Fall Honors for Lourdes Athletes and Actors

NSAA Chooses Students Who Represent School Well

By Nick Allen

The Nebraska State Activities Association (also known as the NSAA) chooses students each year who display the best of sportsmanship and represent their school in an appropriate manner. This year Lourdes Central Catholic would like to congratulate the following students who were selected as Fall NSAA Academic All-State members: Volleyball: Kayla Haneline, Football: Jake Vasa, Nick Wulf, Play Production: Michael Katalenich, Jameson DeFreece.

The goal of the NSAA is to formulate and make policies which will cultivate high ideals of citizenship, fair competition, sportsmanship and teamwork. These qualities compliment the member schools' curriculum programs. The goal is to foster uniformity of standards in interscholastic activity competition.  To organize, develop, direct and regulate an interscholastic activity program which is equitable and will protect and promote the health and physical welfare of all participants. These students were selected by a board of trustees from the NSAA and chosen as the best representatives for the criteria the NSAA likes to see in student-athletes and performers among the schools in Nebraska.

Being chosen as an NSAA Academic All-State is a very prestigious award and theses students should feel very honored. I asked Kayla Haneline how it felt to be chosen as an Academic All-state member and she said, “It’s a great feeling to be awarded for being a good team member. Being a better player and helping others is important to me. It’s a blessing to be able to play the sport I love. Receiving this award is a great confidence booster and I will try to promote good teamwork and sportsmanship in the future.”

Next time you see one of these people around school or socially, give them a hearty congratulations for this prestigious honor. These students did well to win this award and we look forward to seeing them perform in the future.
